Every free in-home water test starts the same way: we measure your water on the spot and walk you through each reading.
What we check during your visit
- Hardness, which causes spots, scale and wear on fixtures and appliances
- Chlorine, which affects taste and smell
- Total dissolved solids (TDS), a general measure of what’s dissolved in your water
- pH and iron
These are quick on-site screening tests that give a useful picture of your water.
When we recommend a lab test
On-site tests can’t measure everything. If you have a private well, a specific health concern, or you want exact numbers for contaminants such as lead, arsenic, nitrate or PFAS, we’ll recommend a laboratory analysis.
We use laboratories accredited by the State of California for the tests requested. Lab results take a few days, and we’ll go through the report with you in plain language.

How long does installation take?
Most whole-home softener and RO installs are completed in a single day, typically 2–4 hours. We treat your home with respect — drop cloths, clean shoes, and a tidy worksite.
What warranties and guarantees do your systems carry?
Our Total Tap Water whole-home softener carries a 7-year warranty on the valve and electronics with a 10-year warranty on the tank. Our Total Tap tankless reverse osmosis system includes a 1-year limited manufacturer warranty and is built with NSF certified, high-quality listed parts and components.
Do I have to buy the system to use the free test?
